This was the Psalm my heart needed to marinate in this morning, set to music by Shane & Shane. I know it will be good for you, too. You’ll just need 10 minutes. Play the song below, and read the text as you listen. Before you begin, ask the Lord to give you what your heart needs today.

Psalm 13—How Long, O Lord?—To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
1 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I take counsel in my soul
and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
3 Consider and answer me, O Lord my God;
light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,
4 lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,”
lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.
5 But I have trusted in your steadfast love;
my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
6 I will sing to the Lord,
because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Thank you for sharing the Psalms that are speaking to your heart. I find few things more beneficial in daily life than resting in the truth of the Psalms. I really love Shane and Shane’s most recent album, Psalms, Vol. 2. Jamie Soles has put more Psalms to music than almost any other artist I know. So many of them are almost straight from the ESV so they’re excellent to help memorize scripture. Some other artists whose Psalms I’ve enjoyed are Audrey Assad, Luke Morton, Bifrost Arts and The Sing Team. Our music minister, Jacob Tilton produced a really nice album of Psalms of Lament (for Advent) a few years ago that you can listen to online for free. https://fortworthpca.bandcamp.com/album/how-long-o-lord-psalms-for-advent He’s got a couple of others online (Ps 37 – https://fortworthpca.bandcamp.com/track/trust-in-the-lord-and-do-good) and (Ps 103 – https://fortworthpca.bandcamp.com/album/o-bless-the-lord-my-soul-hymns-for-the-redeemed-church)

I love U2’s “40” (Psalm 40). It goes really well with today’s Psalm. Also I love Fernando Ortega’s (I like to call him Fernie…)from the album Shadow of Your Wings. Love, Merrill
